I visited the Dead Sea in November 2013, while accompanying a group of Pilgrims visiting Jordan and Israel.
I must say this was the highlight of the trip and was one was excited looking forward to when leaving KL to Amman.
Dead Sea is located at the lowest point on Earth, 400 meters below sea level.
As we approached the Dead Sea, our tour guide told us a list of do’s and don’ts. Majority was the don’ts. No splashing water at others, no facedown swimming , the water should not enter the mouth, ears and eyes etc etc. After hearing all this , you do get kind of worried. After all, the dead sea is lethal. No living species can survive here as the salt content is at the highest. However the same salt also provides medical relieve to some people suffering from skin disease, joint problems, etc.
All these makes the Dead Sea different and totally fascinating!
The sea bed also has deposits of black mud that is easy to spread on the body and provides the skin with nourishing minerals.
After lathering on some mud on my face and body , i waited for it to dry up. After 20 mins, i washed it off and was totally amazed at how soft and supple the skin felt. It was like baby skin!! One experience that should not be missed. You can also float here even if you cant swim, like me.
